Curbside Recycling Coming

To Montville Township in November

Montville Township recently approved a new agreement with Kimble Recycling & Disposal to be the exclusive trash and recycling collection service provider for all residences in the township.  Effective date is November 13, 2017 and trash bins will be delivered from October 30th to November 10th

There are three levels of service available:

Unlimited Service at a cost of $17.05 per month.  Each resident will received one 64 gallon cart for recyclable materials and one 95 gallon cart for trash.  Unlimited service customers can also have an unlimited number of their own cans or bags and bulky items (up to a 3’x 6’ area) at no additional charge.

Limited Service at a cost of $16.05 per month.  Each residence will receive one 64 gallon recycling cart and one 95 gallon trash cart.  No other items can be included.  For additional trash or other items to be hauled, limited customers will have to call in advance to arrange for pick up and be charged for additional bins or items.  Residents may call Kimble at 1-800-201-0005 to select limited service.

Bag Service at a cost of $7.00 per month plus the cost of bags that are purchased from Kimble for $2.00 each.  Each residence will received one 64 gallon cart for recyclable materials.  Bag service customers must purchase 30 gallon plastic Kimble solid waste bags for their trash.  For additional trash or other items to be hauled, bag service customers must call in advance to arrange for pick up and be charged for additional items.  Residents may call Kimble at 1-800-201-0005 to select bagged service.

Montville Township will own the recycling bins and Kimble will own the trash bins.  They belong to each address and are to remain at each property address.  If you move, the carts stay there for the next occupant.

Recycled materials just get placed in the new recycling cart.  Do not bag.

Kimble does not operate on the following holidays:  New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.  If a holiday falls on a weekday, service for that day and the rest of the week will be delayed by one day.  If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, your collection day will not be delayed.

Grant funding for this project was obtained from the Ohio EPA.  Environmentally responsible Montville Township is proud to be the first municipality in Medina County to provide curbside recycling.

We realize change is hard for many, so if you decide you don’t want to recycle, just call us to have the recycling bin picked up and continue to put all of your trash in your trash bin.  We will still lower your trash bill.

And, in a few weeks, you will be receiving a detailed letter from Kimble regarding the program.

Public Notice - Fire Hydrant Inspection & Maintenance

Start Date: September 6th 2017

The Fire Department will begin its annual fire hydrant inspection, maintenance and flushing program in Montville Township beginning on Wednesday September 6th 2017. Inspection, maintenance and testing hours will be Monday- Friday 8am to 8pm. All fire hydrants in Montville Township will be inspected. Due to the complexity of this project and the size of our water system it is difficult to determine which day testing will be conducted in a specific area.

This year the Fire Department has adopted a new low flow method of flushing and pressure testing hydrants. This method uses minimal water and has less of a chance of stirring up sediment with in the main water lines.

Fire departments around the country perform hydrant maintenance to ensure that hydrants will function correctly at times of fire. Hydrant flushing also provides the fire department the knowledge base needed for general water volumes available, firefighting operations and whether there are any major flow changes. Hydrant maintenance is critical to fire suppression and the protection of life and property.

Have adopted by Resolution #052317.01 a Trash District consisting of a single hauler for curbside trash and recycling pickup. Said services to begin in November 2017. More information will be posted as the contract becomes final.
