Tips For Crime Prevention
Here
are a few tips from the Montville Police Department in connection
with the National Center for Crime Prevention, and for the
prevention of Credit Card Fraud and Identity Theft. Also
listed in the sidebar are other additional links that might be of
interest:
Here are some
tips for prevention of Credit Card Fraud and Identity Theft:
-
Instead of
signing your credit card, write in “ask for I.D.” This way the
clerk will ask for a driver’s license or some proof of identity.
-
Keep a photo
copy of your credit cards, driver’s license. You will know what
you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone
numbers to call... If your credit card is lost or stolen make a
police report immediately.
-
Call the three
national credit reporting organizations immediately to place an
alert on your name and SS#. The alert means any company that
checks your credit knows your information was stolen and they
have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit.
