Chief of Police: Terry P. Grice
Unit No. 1603

Chief Grice joined the Montville Police Department in 1999, and came to us from the Medina and Put-In-Bay Police Departments. Chief Grice is a Police Executive Leadership College graduate and holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University. Chief Grice is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Sergeant Chris LaFond
Unit No. 16

Sgt. LaFond joined the Montville Police Department in June of 2005.  He is a 1999 graduate of Medina High School and a holds a Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University.  Chris came to us from the Lafayette Police Department where he served as an Auxiliary Patrol Officer after graduating from the University of Akron Police Academy in September of 2004.  In his free time, Chris enjoys boating, water skiing, camping, and spending time with friends and family.

Sergeant  Matthew A. Neil
Unit No. 1606

Sgt. Neil joined the Montville Police Department in 2003 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2006. Sgt. Neil came to us from both the Wadsworth and the Medina Township Police Departments. Sgt. Neil began his law enforcement career in 1994 and graduated from the Akron University Police Academy in 1997. Sgt. Neil is a Police Executive Leadership College graduate and holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University, where he graduated "Magna Cum Laude".

Patrol Officer Daniel P. Hazek
Unit No. 1607

Patrol Officer Hazek joined the Montville Police Department in December of 2000. He is a 1988 graduate of Buckeye High School and has been a Medina County resident since 1984. He previously served as an Auxiliary Patrolman for the villages of Seville and Chippewa Lake. Prior to that Officer Hazek worked as a carpenter for a local custom home builder for over 11 years. Officer Hazek is Montville's senior patrolman and is a Field Training Officer. Officer Hazek also organizes the Montville Police Auxiliary Unit, and is the OPBA union representative.

Patrol Officer Travis McCourt
Unit No. 1608

Travis McCourt is a 1994 graduate of Buckeye High School. He attended Hocking College that same year, and in 1996 Graduated with a associates degree in Police Science. Travis started with the Medina County Park District in 1997 as a Park Ranger. He remained there until 2003 when he started his career as a Police Officer for the Montville Police Department. Travis is also a member of the Medina County SWAT
Team and is the department's canine officer. 
He enjoys spending time with his family and loves the outdoors.

Patrol Officer Carl Kannenberg
Unit No. 16

Patrol Officer Kannenberg came to us from the Creston, Ohio Police Department. Officer Kannenberg holds a Bachelors Degree from the College of Wooster and  is a graduate of the Medina County Police Academy where he was the class speaker. Officer Kannenberg joined the Montville Police Department in February of 2012. He enjoys spending his free time with his family.

Patrol Officer Angela Vivo
Unit No. 1610

Patrol Officer Vivo is a graduate of The Ohio State University with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Communications and Photography/Film Production.  She graduated from the Cleveland Heights Police Academy with top honors in Academics and Physical Training.  Vivo joined the Montville Police Department in March of 2006.  She is Certified in Crisis Intervention Training. Vivo enjoys trail running, camping, and cross-country skiing.

Patrol Officer Richard J. Percy
Unit No. 1611

Officer Percy was hired in December 2000, and came to us from Dalton Police Department. P.O. Percy holds certification as a firearms instructor and he has a Criminal Justice Degree from the University of Akron.

Patrol Officer Justin Bennett
Unit No. 1612

Patrol Officer Justin Bennett joined the department in March of 2010. He is a 1999 graduate from Waterloo High School in Portage County. Officer Bennett came to us from Doylestown Police Department where he served as an Auxiliary Patrol Officer. Officer Bennett also served 6 years in the Army as a Military Police Officer where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Officer Bennett has served three combat tours to Iraq.

Patrol Officer Michael Stone
Unit No. 1613

Officer Stone joined the Montville Police Department in August of 2003. He is a graduate of the Polaris Career Center Police Academy, where he served as class president. He also spent five years in the military (ARMY) where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Officer Stone is currently working on his Associates Degree. Officer Stone is the President of the Medina County FOP, Lodge #204, and the Montville Police Patrolmen's Association (MPPA). In his free time, he enjoys spending time off-roading with his friends and family, and supporting the Cavaliers, Browns and Indians. 

Patrol Officer Brett Harrison
Unit No. 1614

Patrol Officer Harrison joined the Montville Police Department in September 2007  after graduating from the University of Akron Police Academy in May 2007. He has spent 11 years in the Air Force National Guard and has completed one tour of duty in the Middle East. He is working to complete his Bachelors degree from the University of Akron. P.O. Harrison enjoys sports and reading.

Patrol Officer Dave Pinkas
Unit No. 1615

Patrol Officer Pinkas joined the Montville Police Department in November of 2006.  He is a graduate of Cuyahoga Community College where he obtained an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Law Enforcement.  David graduated from Polaris Ranger Academy in 2004.  He then went on to the Cedar Point Police Department where he worked for two years and achieved the rank of Corporal.  In his free time, David enjoys fishing, playing the drums and playing baseball, football and basketball

Patrol Officer Seth Gaede
Unit No. 1616

Patrol Officer Gaede holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Akron and  is a graduate of the Cleveland Heights Police Academy. Prior to joining the Montville Police Department, Officer Gaede interned at the Akron Field Office of the United States Marshal's Service and the University of Akron Police Department. Officer Gaede joined the Montville Police Department in February of 2012. He enjoys spending his free time with his family.
