Chief of Police:
Thomas Acklin Chief Acklin, appointed on September 9, 2002, retired from the Cleveland Police Department. Chief Acklin was assigned to various units while with Cleveland: narcotics, strike force, downtown safety patrol, and vice units to name a few. Chief Acklin´s last assignment was with a Federal Task Force. He spend four years in the U.S. Air Force, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Chief Acklin resides in Montville Township, is married and has three sons. His oldest son is a police officer for the Lakewood Police Department.
Sergeant Terry
P. Grice Sgt. Grice joined Montville Police in 1999, and comes to us from the Medina Police Department Auxiliary and the Put-In-Bay Police Department in Ottawa County. Terry currently holds an Associates Degree from Cuyahoga Community College in the field of Criminal Justice.

Matthew A. Neil Sergeant Neil joined the Montville Police Department in January 2003 coming to us from both the Wadsworth and the Medina Township Police Departments. Sergeant Neil began his law enforcement career in 1994 and graduated from the Akron University Police Academy in 1997. Sergeant Neil holds an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently earning his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration through Tiffin University.

Officer Daniel
P. Hazek Patrol Officer Hazek joined the Montville Police Department in December of 2000. He is a 1988 graduate of Buckeye High School and has been a Medina County resident since 1984. He previously served as an Auxiliary Patrolman for the villages of Seville and Chippewa Lake. Prior to that Officer Hazek worked as a carpenter for a local custom home builder for over 11 years. Officer Hazek is Montville’s senior patrolman and is a Field Training Officer. Officer Hazek also organizes the Montville Police Auxiliary Unit, and is the OPBA union representative.

Officer Travis
McCourt
Travis McCourt is a 1994 graduate of Buckeye High School. He
attended Hocking College that same year, and in 1996 Graduated with
a associates degree in Police Science. Travis started with the
Medina County Park District in 1997 as a Park Ranger. He remained
there until 2003 when he started his career as a Police Officer for
the Montville Police Department.
Travis is also a member of the
Medina County SWAT
Patrol Officer Chris LaFond Ptl. LaFond joined the Montville Police Department in June of 2005. He is a 1999 graduate of Medina High School and a holds a Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University. Chris came to us from the Lafayette Police Department where he served as an Auxiliary Patrol Officer after graduating from the University of Akron Police Academy in September of 2004. In his free time, Chris enjoys boating, water skiing, camping, and spending time with friends and family.

Angela Vivo Patrol Officer Vivo is a graduate of The Ohio State University with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Communications and Photography/Film Production. She graduated from the Cleveland Heights Police Academy with top honors in Academics and Physical Training. Vivo joined the Montville Police Department in March of 2006. She is Certified in Crisis Intervention Training. Vivo enjoys trail running, camping, and cross-country skiing.

Officer Richard J. Percy Ptl. Percy was hired in December 2000, formerly with the Dalton (OH.) Police Department in Wayne County. He holds certification as a firearms instructor and is a graduate of University of Akron in criminal justice.

Officer Michael Stone Ptl. Stone joint the Montville Police Department in August of 2003. He is a graduate of the Polaris Police Academy where served as class President. He spent five years in the military where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Ptl. Stone attended Berea High School and is currently working on his Associates Degree at Cuyahoga Community College.

Officer Brett Harrison Patrol Officer Harrison joined the Montville Police Department in September 2007 after graduating from the University of Akron Police Academy in May 2007. He has spent 11 years in the Air Force National Guard and has completed one tour of duty in the Middle East. He is working to complete his Bachelors degree from the University of Akron. P.O. Harrison enjoys sports and reading.

Dave Pinkas
Patrol Officer Pinkas joined the Montville Police Department in November of 2006. He is a graduate of Cuyahoga Community College where he obtained an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Law Enforcement. David graduated from Polaris Ranger Academy in 2004. He then went on to the Cedar Point Police Department where he worked for two years and achieved the rank of Corporal. In his free time, David enjoys fishing, playing the drums and playing baseball, football and basketball. |
